It's over.
The last thing I heard my mother say was "Fuck it."
That was last Friday. Today she just went quietly. She sure was a swell broad, wasn't she?
I'll be back here in a week or so. In the meantime, if anybody should feel so inclined -- and I'm not saying you should, but if you do -- we're asking folks to make donations to Reading is Fundamental in lieu of flowers.
Su was her name. Susan Ferguson-Ellia. And I loved her a lot. Still do.
Always will.

Here's to Susan Ferguson-Ellia, an exceedingly swell broad who dressed up like a cowgirl and sang "Don't Fence Me In" at Riverside. I am pretty sure she never let anyone fence her--or anyone she loved--in. Thinking about you and your family, EGE. And, thinking about Su.
Better last words were never utterd.
So sorry, Erin.
My condolences, and my thoughts are with you and all your family (and Charlie).
I'm sorry for your loss. She sounds like a swell broad indeed.
So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. We'll be here waiting after you have taken some time and are ready to start posting again.
Peace and comfort to you and your family. Godspeed to the swell ol' broad.
Oh...oh I'm so sorry.
Come back soon so us faraway folks can see you're okay.
And take care of yourself.
So sorry Ege - thinking of you. My mum died in April this year and, damn it, I miss her.
The deep pain that is felt at the death of every friendly soul arises from the feeling that there is in every individual something which is inexpressible, peculiar to him alone, and is, therefore, absolutely and irretrievably lost. ~Arthur Schopenhauer
I am so sorry Erin.

Oh Erin.
So very sorry.
I raise my glass.
Here's to "Su!"
OH HONEY!!!!!!! I'm so sorry!!!!!! Hang in there!!!! You have a big hug from San Francisco coming your way...
So very sorry Erin - my condolences.
My condolences..
Thanks, everyone. I'm a bit surprised at how comforting condolences from (relative) strangers have turned out to be. I wouldn't be me, though (and Mom wouldn't forgive me), if I didn't clear up a few things:
Sparkle -- You know how much I love you, right? And it probably is Gene Autry in the ring. But the song she sang at Riverside was definitely "I Like the Wide Open Spaces." I can still hear her singing it now...
Anonymous -- I totally appreciate the sentiment, and I wholeheartedly agree with you, but for the record: they weren't her last words. They were just the last words I heard her say. Her last words belong to my dad.
That's it. The rest of you are just too kind for words.
