How UNlucky Am I? Vote now!

Oh crap. The cement holding my temporary crown in my head has commenced to crumble and fall out. The tooth itself is holding so far, but with the weekend nearly here and the holiday around the corner, I dasn't take my usual course of action -- which is to ignore the problem and hope it goes away.

So I'm off this morning to sit in Dental Emergency, on the last business day before Christmas, hoping against hope that I will waste a half a day there only to be told it's No Big Deal.

Jeebers, I hope they aren't going to charge me to tell me that...

Anyway, since I don't have much time this morning for my usual musical musings, let's take a vote. Have a little poll. With nothing hinging on the outcome except possible class war, race war, or a minor Generation-X revolt (if we can all get off our slacker asses long enough).

Ready?

Best Christmas Song Ever:

1. Joan Jett's Little Drummer Boy

2. Otis Redding's White Christmas

3. The Kinks's Father Christmas

Or, just for me, because I know nobody will vote for it, because I know deep down it really sucks, and yet still I can't resist adding it in...

4. The Partridge Family's My Christmas Card To You

Vote now with your comments!

Feel free to suggest a ditty of your own if your favorite's not up here. But consider this fair warning: if your favorite's not up here, you are wrong, wrong, wrong.

And if I hear the words "Mannheim" or "Steamroller" I will block you from this site. I don't even know if that's possible, but I will figure out a way!

Cyndi Lauper, Santa Baby
and/ or
Santa Claus is Coming to Town Gene Autry

Wrong!

If it's going to be Santa Baby, then it absolutely MUST be Eartha Kitt. And Eartha ain't one of the choices because it's a great song, to be sure, but there is absolutely NUTHIN' Holy-Night about it.

See? What'd I tell you? If it isn't on this list...

I dont think I've committed to my brain ever hearing any of those people sing a Christmas song. So I cant really vote for one of those with a clear conscience.
How about baby its cold outside by Ella Fitzgerald.
I hope your teeth do well today.

EGE said...

Wrong again!

Baby It's Cold Outside is by, and only by, Ray Charles and Betty Carter. Also not really a Christmas song, though they do play it a lot this time of year.

I'm telling you people, I'm RIGHT! When are you going to just admit that?

(Thanks for the best wishes on my teeth. I'm really leaving now, so anyone else who wants to make wrong guesses won't get spanked until much later this afternoon.)

Remember Santa Claus is watching you and can take back all of your presents if you fight or hit or swear.

Fuck!

Okay, REALLY leaving now...

Oh, yes! Little Drummer Boy with Bing and 'Bow is smashing.

For you: I will vote for The Partridge Family.

I have that '80s Christmas song from The Waitresses stuck in my head. Not sure why!

Sparkle Plenty said...

Oops. That should have been Bow' I guess...PLUS: Hope it wasn't horrible at the dentist!

Courtney said...

What, the Pogues's Fairytale of New York is too mainstream-y for you, fancy music person?

Hope the dentist went okay. Glad you don't have a camera right now to give photographic evidence of the morning's adventure.

This is the only HREF=http://www.stinalisa.com/NutsAtChristmas.html/">BEST CHRISTMAS SONG
on your list or not.

Courtney said...

Or Dar Williams, The Christians and the Pagans?

I am with you on Eartha Kitt's version of Santa Baby, however.

All I Want for Christmas is a New Molar...
A new Molar...
A new Molar...

To be continued, as I too am off to the tooth doc, where he will make sure that I am healing OK after last week's mouth pillaging.

Good luck to you!

Since I'm from Michigan, Christmas is not Christmas without "Sock it to me Santa" by Bob Seager. Oh and I like that tune from Cheech and Chong, Santa Claus and his old Lady.

braveheart said...

Well, without Sachmo's Chestnuts Roastin', you can't have any Holiday Cheer at all.

EGE said...

No, see, if it's gonna be Satch, it's gotta be "Night Before Christmas." And that's not a song.

I'm RIGHT, people! Why won't you just pick one of the options I GAVE you?

Fine, we can cross off The Partridge Family.

EGE said...

Dynochick -- Maybe not everyone enjoyed my little Thanksgiving play on Alice's Restaurant as much as we Massholes did, so I hereby declare a regional-preference exception. Your Michigan vote for Bob Seger -- although not Right -- is officially not wrong. For you. Totally incorrect everywhere else on the planet.

But "Dynochick" doesn't sound Chinese. Or Mexican. So you're just plain wrong on the stoner tune.

Hello?
How could you forget Robert Earl Keen?
Merry Christmas From the Family????
Jeez!

I'm from the Gulf Coast, you have to listen to Aaron Neville's 'O Holy Night' or any of his christmas songs. He was born in New Orleans and his music is loved by all us Hurricane Katrina refugees.
